Fourth of July

For the 2013 holiday we again attended Carmelfest with Grammy. The great thing was that daddy got to come with us this year as well. We listened to live music on stage, ate cotton candy, caramel corn, hot dogs, and rode/played on rides. The only problem was that we all fell asleep in the car before they actually started again this year. Grammy watched the fireworks with mommy and daddy since we were all asleep!

It was hilarious when we watched Vivi go up the inflatable stairs for this one...she was going really slowly and the kids behind her must've said something....Grammy and mommy saw her turn around and let them have it. They could only imagine what she said to them. She cracks us up daily!

I got to jump on the giant bungee trampolines this year and LOVED it! I went SOOOOOO high!

New Foods!

On July 1st, at 6 months old, Blythe tried her first baby food. It was squash. She wasn't a huge fan but thought it was ok. She pushed it out with her tongue.

Homemade pears on 7/4 - a little thick in texture

July 6th: apples (gerber) - and sweet potatoes (homemade). Sweet potatoes are probably favorite so far. not sure of apples. She kind of blows rasberries and spits it out everywhere and just smiles as she takes it all in.

A few fingers always seem to taste pretty good as well.

Homemade avacado. Not sure at first but became a favorite after a few tries. This was one of Vivi's faves too. I never made homemade food for Audrey. :(

First rice husk! Loved it!

Cheerios! YUM!

Pappaw's Birthday

At the last minute, we asked Pappaw if he would like to meet for dinner on his birthday. It was a week night so daddy and Matt didn't make it. However, Susan, Austin, Gavin, and all of us girls made it. Pappaw brought Sue and Grandma O. with him as well. We met at Ivanhoe's in Upland, Indiana. They have over a hundred different flavors of ice cream and really yummy food. Mommy made John Deere cupcakes, too. We had a really nice visit before we headed back home. Susan was still on maternity leave so that made it nice.

We love you! Happy Birthday!

Blythe's First Tooth

Blyuthe's first tooth was the bottom right front. She was not even fussy or drooly. I only knew because she was chewing on my chin and then I just checked with my finger and a tooth had popped through.

Father's Day 2013

Happy Father's Day!! We love you so much daddy. You are super awesome and thank you for everything you do for us every single day. Love, love, love your girls!

We celebrated our Daddy by going to church (he got to watch the Bible School program) and then a nice lunch at one of his favorites, Bonefish Grill. Then we just relaxed at home.

Later, daddy stayed home and took a nap while us girls met Pappaw to celebrate him in the afternoon.

Our new ride...

Our Aunt Susan is pretty cool and she won some extra brownie points for this one for sure. She picked us up a new power car for free from a neighbor's garage sale. It just needed a new battery which of course daddy can handle and off we went. We spent hours driving this around over the summer!

Mommy and Daddy go back to Chicago!

We hadn't been back to a Cubs game since I was pregnant with Audrey. That summer, Susan, Matt, Kari, Mark, Nick and myself all sat in the bleachers and enjoyed a great day in the city. We stayed at Emily and Justin's place before they moved back to Bloomington.

This time, Susan and Matt couldn't make it but a 5-month pregnant Kari and Mark still attended. Thanks to Grammy for babysitting the youngsters so we could enjoy a good 24-hours in the Windy City.

We left on Saturday morning, gaining an hour as we crossed over the state line and arrived in Wicker Park just in timem for lunch at one of our absolute favorite pizza joints, Piece. They have THE BEST New York style pizzas, YUM! They also have their own selection of brews as it is a microbrewery. Nick and I ate here a lot the last month we lived in Chicago because our place was nearby.
Kari and I enjoying a fresh beer. Kari's was non-alcoholic of course!

Nick and Mark posing with our delicious pies. Yes, we ordered two larges for just our small group and stuffed ourselves to the max. We don't get to eat here every day.

There were a lot of changes at Wrigley since we had been here 5 years prior.

Mark and Kari sitting in the bleachers on this beautiful summer day. We were so lucky to have fabulous weather!

It will be so fun to take the girls here someday!

Love the fact that Wrigley still has the original scoreboard and there are people inside it changing it the whole 9 innings.

We stayed at a very nice boutique hotel, The James, in the heart of the city. We were in an excellent location and within walking distance to all of our old favorites. For dinner we visited our absolute favorite steak place, Wildfire, and it did not disappoint!

Ok, now I am ready to go back!! Chicago, Chicago, we miss you, Chicago!
