We hadn't been back to a Cubs game since I was pregnant with Audrey. That summer, Susan, Matt, Kari, Mark, Nick and myself all sat in the bleachers and enjoyed a great day in the city. We stayed at Emily and Justin's place before they moved back to Bloomington.
This time, Susan and Matt couldn't make it but a 5-month pregnant Kari and Mark still attended. Thanks to Grammy for babysitting the youngsters so we could enjoy a good 24-hours in the Windy City.
We left on Saturday morning, gaining an hour as we crossed over the state line and arrived in Wicker Park just in timem for lunch at one of our absolute favorite pizza joints, Piece. They have THE BEST New York style pizzas, YUM! They also have their own selection of brews as it is a microbrewery. Nick and I ate here a lot the last month we lived in Chicago because our place was nearby.

Kari and I enjoying a fresh beer. Kari's was non-alcoholic of course! |
Nick and Mark posing with our delicious pies. Yes, we ordered two larges for just our small group and stuffed ourselves to the max. We don't get to eat here every day. |
There were a lot of changes at Wrigley since we had been here 5 years prior. |
Mark and Kari sitting in the bleachers on this beautiful summer day. We were so lucky to have fabulous weather! |
It will be so fun to take the girls here someday! |
Love the fact that Wrigley still has the original scoreboard and there are people inside it changing it the whole 9 innings. |

We stayed at a very nice boutique hotel, The James, in the heart of the city. We were in an excellent location and within walking distance to all of our old favorites. For dinner we visited our absolute favorite steak place, Wildfire, and it did not disappoint! |
Ok, now I am ready to go back!! Chicago, Chicago, we miss you, Chicago!
